University Archives

The University Archives at Morehead State University was established in 1968 to act as the repository for the official and unofficial records that document the history of the University. The Archives serves as the institutional memory of the University and as custodian of the University's legacy. The primary objective of the Archives is to appraise, collect, organize, describe, preserve, and make available university records and related materials of permanent historical value. The Archives also aims to support research, teaching, and public awareness of the rich heritage of Morehead State University for students, faculty and researchers.

Kentucky Open Records Act Requests

Certain records housed in the University Archives have been identified by the Office of General Counsel, such as the University's Operating Budget and Personnel Roster, as being regulated by the Freedom of Information Act and the Kentucky Open Records Act. All questions and requests must be directed to the Morehead State University Office of General Counsel.

University regulation regarding inspection of public records is governed by UAR 901.04. Under this UAR, the General Counsel of the University serves as the official records custodian for the University as it pertains to requests under the Kentucky Open Records Act (KORA), KRS 61.870.
