Life Hacks for College

A guide for MSU freshmen that helps with campus survival, life skills, health & wellness, community participation, finances, and academics.

Intro to Community Resources

It's easy to slip through the cracks as a college student. Often, it is assumed that because you go to college, you have the financial means to cover your housing, your food, transportation, and all of life's other expenses. This experience just isn't realistic for many of us. Working and going to school full-time is difficult to accomplish. Most of us have part-time jobs, a work study, or an internship already...but it's not always enough.

Women also face unique health concerns while at college. Pregnancy and childcare are major barriers to educational attainment and financial independence. While men and women may experience domestic violence, women sometimes need specific support to escape dangerous circumstances and to help protect minors that may also be affected.

There are times when men and women need affordable legal counsel, help overcoming addiction, or physical and mental healthcare to overcome circumstances and reach their full potential.

All these issues, and so many more, are common to any college campus across the US. To help alleviate these issues in any way we can at MSU, we are providing a link to the Rowan County Resource Guide PDF (created and provided by UK College of Public Health), as well a list of resources available to you in Rowan County, KY with descriptions and contact information for each, just in case you cannot access the PDF.

Note: Some of these agencies may be listed in multiple tabs, depending on the variety of sources they offer.
