DIY Research Guide

Quick lessons on how to best use the library's resources.

Use the Request It Service- Options

There are two main ways you place a request for an item:

Use the Request It Service- Step 1

When in a Library search tool, you can use the Request It and Find It buttons to access our ILLiad Request It system.

In our library databases, look for this button: Find It button. The button will take you directly to the Request It system.

When using the Find It button, you will be given multiple options to finding an item.  Click on the Request It link to access the Request It system.

Check out the Use the Find It Button page for more details.

Use the Request It Service- Step 2

Once you click on the appropriate button or link, you will see the ILLiad Request It login page

Use your MSU ID# and password to log in.  The password is the same one you use to access MyMoreheadState and Blackboard.  If you have never used the system, it will ask you to register.  Jump to the registration step below for details.

Use the Request It Service- Step 3- Books/Media

When requesting books or media, you will see a request form partially filled out with the item's citation information.  Here's an example of a book/media request form:

Some portions of the form require your response.  With book and media requests, be sure to let us know if the Library owns the item.  Everyone can request books the Library doesn't own, but not media.  Distance students, staff, and faculty may request delivery of items the Library does own, including media.
