GPO Catalog

The GPO Catalog is like a library catalog. It allows you to search for documents produced by the Federal Government and distributed by the Depository Library Program. If the document is online it will give the URL If it is in paper or microfiche it provides a link so you can find a Depository Library which may have the physical document.


FirstGov is like Google. It searches across government web sites (Federal and State) so you can find the information you are looking for. Browse using the Categories menu or search using keywords.

Federal Citizen Information Center

Provides information on consumer matters, health, education, and other topics.


U.S. House of Representatives Home Page

U.S. Senate Home Page

Use these sites to find information about your elected officials, about current legislation, daily schedules, and House and Senate committees.

Legislative Branch Resources on GPO Access

GPO Access provides a list of resources for legislative research. Find bills, laws, committee reports, and biographical information about current and past legislators. It includes links to the Congressional Record, which can be browsed by date or searched by keyword.


Use Thomas, from the Library of Congress to research current and past bills and laws. Hint: if you are looking for the official version of the bill passed by both Houses of Congress and sent to the President look for the suffix 'enr' at the end of the bill number. (H.R. ###enr)

Find information about the President and Vice President (as well as their spouses) here. Read their schedules, speeches, and position papers.

American Factfinder

Core Documents of U.S. Democracy

Includes links to online versions of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Federalist Papers, and many other resources.
