More than 50 partner libraries have digitized more than 2.6 million of public domain books from their print collections. Books in the public domain are accessible. Books still under copyright are not accessible.

Anyone who sets up a free account can borrow e-books from this collection for a period of two weeks. They can be read in the browser, or downloaded using Adobe Digital Editions (a free piece of software used for managing loans). Has more than 900,000 books.
The World Digital Library (WDL) is a project of the U.S. Library of Congress supported by UNESCO. The WDL makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials (with books being one of the item types) from all countries and cultures. It includes more than 2,000 books.
