DIY Research Guide: 3. Use Books

Find answers to frequently asked questions.

Finding Information and Evidence

Reference material can get you started, but you need a more expansive view of your topic. You can find loads of material in Books and Videos that will present, investigate, and argue the details of your topic.

Quick Tip:

Remember to use the linked subject headings in both the Classic Catalog and WorldCat Local to do more precise searching.

Using WorldCat Local to Find Books

The video below explores one of our main search tools here at MSU Library: WorldCat Local.  WorldCat provides access to books, ebooks, dvds, streaming video, articles, and other types of library items.  Start with WorldCat to find books and videos that cover your topic.

Be sure to have the keywords you developed in Step 1 ready as you begin to search.

Search for eBooks

The library has tens of thousands of online books available 24/7 through EBSCO's eBook Collection.
