COVID-19: Changes to Library Operations

For the duration of MSU's response to the pandemic the library will change its operations in the ways outlined here.

  • The library building will be closed until further notice.
  • Use the options under 'Ask For Help' to contact library staff for help with the library's online resources or with your research.
  • Use our recently revised DIY Research Guide for the best ways to navigate our website.
  • Journal articles indexed in our databases (but not available online) can still be gotten through our Request It Service.  Here are instructions on how to request such articles.
  • We are not circulating physical materials to students.  For students, we will scan from physical books up to what is allowed by copyright (one chapter or 10%) and send the scans electronically.  Article requests are still being filled and sent electronically as usual.
  • Faculty should contact their librarian and would need to request on the Request It page any physical items they need from CCL in advance for instruction.  Items will be handed to faculty at either the front or back library doors.  Pick up times will be individually scheduled from 10 am - 12 noon on Thursdays only.  Call 783-2819 when at the library to pick it up.
  • Faculty who need streaming video options not present in any of our current subscriptions can browse through the offerings in Swank Digital Campus (see box to the right) and then use this request form to ask the library to purchase it for them:
  • When you request appointments for help with your research, you can ask us to use whatever online communication application with which you are most comfortable.  We will try to accommodate you.
  • Items that are due can be deposited in the book drop located on the loading dock behind the library.
