Notice Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, USC) governs making photocopies or reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries are authorized to furnish a reproduction. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying request if, in its judgment, fulfillment would involve violation of copyright law.

Section 108 of the U.S. Copyright Act permits qualifying libraries and archives to reproduce and distribute limited portions of copyrighted works through Request It! Services. It is designed to support private study, scholarship, and research without allowing Request It! copying to replace subscriptions or purchases.

The CONTU Guidelines provide a commonly used method for evaluating recent journal requests. During a calendar year, a requesting library may generally receive no more than five articles published within the preceding five years from any one periodical title without seeking permission, paying applicable royalties, or considering a subscription.
