Using OBS to Record Presentations + Webcam: Home

This guide will walk users through the process of finding, downloading and installing OBS screen recording software on their device to setup and record desktop presentations with a webcam overlay.

This guide is intended to walk you through the installation, setup, and use of OBS screen recording software to record a desktop presentation with a webcam overlay.

The first step is installing the OBS software. The video above will walk you through the process. OBS is a free software studio available on Windows, Mac, and Linux devices. (Chromebooks are not supported at this time)

Download OBS from the OBS Project website: https://obsproject.com/

If you have trouble installing OBS on Windows after following the video above, your PC may require certain software from Microsoft in order to run OBS. The guide below will walk you through the process of setting up "Visual C++ 2017 Redistributables" and "the Universal C Runtime update" if needed for Windows 7 and 8.1 users.

Setting up OBS to record your desktop and webcam can be tricky, so follow the video above closely.

Recording your video is a crucial step, but following the instructions in the video above can make it easier. 

The final step of the process is taking the finished video file and uploading it to YouTube. If you're unfamiliar with the process, the video above will guide you through the installation and offer some important tips for privacy settings and finding your URL to link to your video on Blackboard.
